Separate power from duration.
Power, measured in kW or MW, describes how quickly energy can be delivered. Energy capacity, measured in kWh or MWh, describes how much is stored. A large power rating does not by itself mean the battery can support a load for many hours.
Choose the operating priority.
A project may aim to shift solar generation to later hours, reduce a short demand peak or support critical loads. These are different duties. A system intended for backup needs the appropriate islanding, protection and load-management design.
Look beyond the nameplate.
Usable capacity, efficiency, temperature, degradation, cycling, augmentation and warranty conditions shape lifetime performance. The commercial model needs to reflect the actual operating pattern rather than assume all stored electricity is loss-free.
Start with useful data.
Bring interval consumption data, electricity bills, outage history, critical-load information and any existing solar generation records. These inputs help determine whether storage has a clear role and what should be evaluated next.
